Mother’s Day is one of my favorite holidays because I get to ask for whatever I want! Usually that means I want to sleep in, I want a clean house and I don’t want to cook for the entire day, even better if I don’t have to cook for the entire weekend.
Let’s be honest, all of us need a break like that. We need it more than once a year, but at the very least we have Mother’s Day as a guarantee for a little break. Wouldn’t you agree?
I was approached recently by Whole Foods Market with the greatest idea, “how about we give mom a break on Mother’s Day?” Ummm…yes!
So, how is Whole Foods Market going to give you a break?
They have recently partnered with instacart and now offer deliveries in the Montgomery County area. And to celebrate you, mama, they are giving my readers a $10 off your purchase and free delivery on first time orders.
That’s right! You can have Whole Foods Market items delivered to your home for free!
Perfect timing for this, with Mother’s Day just around the corner you should take advantage of this promo and get a mom break.
Before you make your order I want to share with you what I got to make sure my husband would cook for the entire weekend so I could get my mom break. I’m hoping these ideas will work for you family because you too deserve a break.
Shopping with instacart
This was my first time ordering through instacart but the entire process was really easy. I downloaded the app, made an account and started adding items to my shopping cart. The app is really user friendly.
What I loved about it is that they have a coupon section so I browsed that first and added several items on sale to my cart. I saved a few bucks on milk, Annie’s Homegrown products and Applegate’s products.
I placed the order and to my surprise the first available delivery option was just a couple of hours after I placed it! This is exciting because this means next time I need food for dinner I’ll just order it during the day and I’ll have it on time.
Once the person started shopping I got notifications on the app so I knew what was happening. The coolest part is that at one point something was sold out and I received a message asking if I wanted to replace this item.
I didn’t like her replacement since it wasn’t organic but noticed I could message this person, so I told her to get the organic version. It was that easy! For every product that was sold out, I got a notification of a replacement, the option to chat with this person or the option to cancel that part of my order.
The whole process was so smooth and simple. I am definitively going to be using it on a weekly basis since going to the store with two kids is overwhelming.
What to order so you don’t have to cook on Mother’s Day
Now, onto the fun part! I thought hard about what to order to make sure my husband could cook it all because I wanted a break. I’m hoping this ideas will work for you too!
My husband loves to grill so I ordered a bunch of items he could grill while I enjoyed a glass of wine. Oh, why isn’t it like this every day? 🙂
Here’s all I ordered from Whole Foods Market:
My “Give Mom a Break” plan:
I ordered 3 meals he could cook on the grill. Besides planning for these meals I also got eggs for breakfast and fruits, guacamole and salsa dips plus a few other snacks for my kids to eat in between meals.
Meal #1: Beef and veggies
- Whole Foods Market Beef Kabob Marinated Vegetales
- Organic Cauliflower Cut
- Bok Choi
This was pretty simple for him to grill since it didn’t require any prepping. The Kabobs went directly on the grill since they were seasoned, and he added a little bit of olive oil and salt to the bok choi. He grill the entire bok choi pieces.
I meant to take a picture of this meal but we were so hungry we ate it very fast! It was delicious so I highly recommend you try it.
Meal #2: Grilled pizza
- Organic Original Pizza Dough
- Pizza tomate sauce
- Organic shredded mozzarella
You prepare the pizza just as if you were going to cook it on the oven. Use a rolling pin to stretch out the pizza dough, add the sauce, then cheese, and then toppings. Add olive oil around the edge – it makes the crust cook better.
Set your grill to around 300F and place the pizza on the grill. Avoid putting it right above the flames if you have a gas grill. Keep an eye on the pizza because it cooks fast – about 10-15 minutes.
That’s it! Grilled pizza taste SO much better than oven cooked pizza. If you haven’t tried it, you must!
Meal #3: Grilled chicken with veggies
- Organic chicken breasts
- Cauliflower and Broccoli
Make sure you marinate the chicken with your favorite spices and cilantro. Then, chop the broccoli in smaller pieces and mix it with the cauliflower. Season to taste – we add olive oil, salt and pepper.
Grill the chicken and veggies at the same time since their cooking time is about the time.
Serve and enjoy!
Pretty simple, right? We had left overs from all the meals so we ate those too. This means we ended up having enough food for 3 days and I didn’t have to cook any of it!
I hope this post has inspired you to order your groceries on Mother’s Day and have a relaxing weekend mama…because you deserve it!
