We took our kids to Kings Dominion about a month ago and had such a fantastic time that we knew we just had to plan a trip with our friends.
What we love the most about Kings Dominion is that it has so many different attractions that cater to all ages. From an entire area with kiddie rides, to thrilling roller coaster, an entire water park and a section where you can win prizes – Kings Dominion has got you covered!
It’s truly a perfect destination for all ages and it is so much fun when you go with friends!
When Blog Meets Brand and Cedar Fair asks us to go back to Kings Dominion we were so thrilled. They sponsored our trip by providing us with free tickets and extra change to spend at Kings Dominion. We decided to invite 6 of our friends because the more the merrier!
If you live in the Washington D.C. area, it just takes about 2 hours to get to Kings Dominion. We like to spend the night before in the Richmond area so we don’t have to wake up early the next day to head to Kings Dominion but after friends decided to drive there and back on the same day.
The first we went with our kids, it was just us and my aunt and uncle but going with your kids’ friends makes it so much more fun because the little ones are able to experience the rides together.
There are a few rides, like Peanuts Turnpike, that the kids can ride on their own. I’m pretty sure this was the kids favorite ride because they got on it 12 times! Luckily there wasn’t a line for this ride so they would get off and run to the front to get on the little car again.
Look how excited are my one year old and her friend on this ride:
Aren’t they adorable?
I really love that Planet Snoopy is filled with rides most kids can ride – my one year old got on every single ride with us. We spend most of our time here since we have small kids.
But the adults also need to have fun, right? Since we went with friends this worked out great. After spending half of our day in Planet Snoopy we got on some of the roller coaster while one of the adults watched the kids. We had such a blast – most of us hadn’t gotten on a roller coaster in years and the thrill was amazing.
The highlight for the adults was probably the water park. We were all so hot and exhausted. It was fantastic to head onto Soak City after we were done getting on all the rides we wanted to.
Soak City has lots of water rides but also many pools. We headed straight to the one for kids so we could relax while they had a blast.
This is my one year old showing us her swimming skills:
The park provides life jackets for all kids so you don’t even have to worry about bringing your own.
They even have many food options in Soak City, including chocolate covered frozen bananas!
We ended our day by riding the carousel and trying our luck to win some prizes!

Events at Kings Dominion:
Kings Dominion hosts many events throughout the year so you can plan your visit are these events for some extra fun!
Our visit was during KidsFest and since we went on a Sunday it wasn’t too crowded. We barely waited on line and we were able to check out all the KidsFest activities.
KidsFest has lots of activities, like crafts, legos, balloons, magic, chalk art, animal shows and live entertainment. It’s held every year so if you miss it, make sure you check it out the following year.
Once you get to the park all you do is follow the KidsFest signs!
My kids favorite part the truck-touch.
They also loved making crafts:
And if you have a lego fan, you can’t miss out on KidsFest!
Check out Kings Dominion events section to see all the other events they have planned for this year!
The best part of our trip was seeing our kids bond with their favorite friends and create new memories.
It is such a great place to visit that I encourage you to go! I promise you won’t regret it.
When we left our oldest was crying because she wanted to stay so we’re already planning our visit next month with the grandparents. If you think you’ll end up going several times, like us, consider getting the annual pass – you really save money with it.
If you don’t, then make sure you take advantage of the deals. Right now Everyone Pays Kids Price through June 30 if you buy the tickets online.
Have you gone to Kings Dominion? Did you love it as much as we did?
